Boating is the Best Outdoor Activity

posted on 20 February 2012

During the workday or workweek there is little opportunity to get outdoors to just enjoy fresh air. Even if there is time after work, the quickly fading daylight can put an early end to most activities. What’s more is that there are few activities that can be enjoyed in the outdoors during the night, the options of going camping of fishing notwithstanding. Therefore, the best time to get the most out of the outdoors is to do it on a weekend or on a holiday, when time is not divided among other needs or distractions. Get your laksen breeks and getg out there! The best type of activity to do then (for me) is to go on a sailing trip. Sailing or boating are a fun way to enjoy the outdoors and animal life, and what’s more, can be enjoyed alone or in a group. If a boat is not available try booking a seat on a short pleasure cruise across the channel or to just sail around. The sun, sea and sky all combine to present to you a picturesque panorama that is good for photographing. The feel of sea spray on one’s face is a good rejuvenator, just remember to wash the face afterwards. Furthermore, the smell of the sea and the feel of fresh, circulating air is often enough to help one forget the petty worries of the home or office. There are many animals to see and play with on a boating outing: animals such as flying fish, whales, dolphins and various species of birds are always visible on the seas or lake. My favorite animals to see are flying fish as their displays of agility and speed are wondrous. Whales and dolphins are a bit rarer, but their appearance is guaranteed to warm your heart. Boating is the best outdoor activity, as it combines exercise, fresh air, new sights and smells into one.

I'm a Magnet for Every Piece of Clothing

posted on 17 December 2011

My favorite fashion item would have to be my magnetabilities necklace. I'm really into necklaces, bangles and bracelets and other jewellery items, and this necklace is my favourite. It is a cord necklace that has a metal pendant hanging from it. There are magnetic inserts that can be put onto the pendant so that the looks of the necklace are unique and interchangeable. I must have about 15 different magnets that I use to change out according to what I am wearing. The magnets are inexpensive so it's a great way to go. They also make bracelets. I have never bought one, but they are very similar. There are magnets that you can buy to give it a different look all the time. It is also a great gift idea to give someone who also likes jewelry. My sister has a necklace also, and collects the different magnet inserts. It is becoming a very popular item where she lives, and her children are even starting to badger her to buy them some of these jewelry items!

Now, Here’s a Gift Idea to Really Sleep On

posted on 1 December 2011

When I’m choosing a Christmas gift for someone, I like to give them something really memorable. It has to be something they will still remember when the New Year ticks over, something they will appreciate and maybe even use. When I say memorable, I don’t mean the same kind of memorable as Gran’s Christmas sweater. I’m talking about the kind of thing that other people will ask about and compliment them for (which is a compliment to you). My friend makes handmade jewellery from her jewellery making kits - THAT is the kind of thing I'm talking about. This year my housemate showed me a website that sells Personalised Picture Pillowcases! You send them a digital photo file and they print an A4 size picture on a standard pillowcase. For those of you in long distance relationships, put a mugshot on. Put a family photo on. Put their dream car on it (pun intended) or anything else they might dream about. And the best part is, they can actually sleep on it!

Boots: Fashion Staples That Pull Together Any Outfit

posted on 22 November 2011

My favourite fashion items are definitely boots. Boots are great because they can be worn for pretty much any occasion and in every season. Just like jewellery, footwear has that subtle effect on your overall look. I might wear my boots and my Annie Haak bracelets and it sets a certain tone to my look. Boots are the finishing touch on the whole of the ensemble. In the winter, I like to wear soft sheepskin boots that warm my feet and bring a dash of light colour to my otherwise dark winter attire. In the fall, I am a fan of wearing dark leather boots to class up my ensembles and give myself a polished look. Country bars are a great place to pull out some classic cowboy boots, adding a fun touch to the whole outfit. What is great about boots is that they are so diverse and can be worn multiple times and kept for years. For me, boots add a splash of personality to each of my outfits, they allow me to put on different personas and alter my look however I please. Boots really are my favourite fashion items.

How to Buy Girls Clothes

posted on 19 October 2011

Girls clothes are known to come in very many varieties different colours, design, shape, and styles. There are key factors that you must put in mind when buy clothes for your little girl. First, you need to choose clothes which are comfortable. Comfort is a very important factor to consider when selecting girls clothes. Girls have soft skin as compared to boys. Do not buy too tight fitting clothes for your little daughter. Best girls clothes are designed to be freely and loosely fitting. Bulky clothes also don’t match well with girls. Style and fashion is another important factor to consider when buying girls clothes. In fact it should be the number one factor given the kind of weight that girls attach to it. Girls appreciate fashions and style very much. By their nature, girls are more willing to replace their best clothes within few days for a new style that has just arrived. They follow greatly what is trending in the market for their clothes styles and fashion. It is pretty good to keep in minds the latest styles and fashions when buying girls clothes. You should never forget about colour when shopping for girls clothes. Do not just pick any item form the clothes store because it is stylish yet the colour is wanting. There are special colours that most girls like. Generally girls like bright colours. However this is a generalization. You should understand what colour your daughter appreciates. It is a good idea to go for fun colours for girls clothes. This is because girls appreciate funs very much.

When You Fancy Dress to Impress

posted on 17 October 2011

Queen are one of the most celebrated and revered rock bands of the seventies and eighties not only did they capture the public's attention with their unique music style but also with their outrageous fashion sense that often included vests over cut jeans, dazzling fashion jackets and more. So if I were to go to a fancy dress party right now then without doubt I would dress as the extravagant Freddy Mercury, the lead vocalist of Queen - what I would consider to be the best mens fancy dress costumes any bloke could dream up! He was a flamboyant character who could have the whole audience dancing on his palm, not only because of his outlandish outfitting but also because of his tongue-in-cheek attitude and a bag full of tricks that would charm any audience around the world. To me there is no better way to spend a fancy dress party than having a group of your friends with you dressed as Queen band members with some classic eighties wigs dancing on our heads as we shake to the best of Queen's tunes!

Designer Kids Clothes Offer Such a Choice These Days

posted on 10 October 2011

I'm amazed at the range of designer kids clothes available these days. I know they say that bringing up a child allows you to see things again a second time around, but I admit that this second time around feels different to my own childhood. When I was a child, we didn't have such a wonderful choice of designer clothes - we just wore plain t-shirts and jeans outside of school. Nowadays, fashion has reached out to children (in a wholesome, healthy way) and now kids can be a lot more creative with what they wear, as well as a lot more colourful too! I went to a birthday party just last week (my daughter's friend), and I saw a vibrant display of kid's clothing on display there - really tasteful, beautiful designs. I think these kinds of designs will have a positive effect on children in the future - they will realise (hopefully) that fashion is about fun and creativity.

Despite What People Tell You, Fashion Doesn't Change Much

It was Steven Wright who made the joke : "God's gonna come down one day and give civilisation a ticket for speeding". We humans have certainly progressed at a rapid speed over the last few hundred years. When it comes to fashion however, I think the old rules remain. Style and elegance is very much wrapped up in aesthetic beauty. Lace garments will be always meet approving eyes because of this old rule. A dress that shows off a healthy figure will also please the eye. Also, intricate designs have always been popular. For sure, clothing manufacturers will attempt to sell their wares as if they're new ideas, but look close enough, and you see that fashion repeats itself over and over. Clothing is about comfort and beauty, and while that remains true, you will see the same rules being followed, but disguised as "new and exciting styles!" - even if they're not!

The Mildred with the Stealthy Style

posted on 3 October 2011

I've got a wide range in taste when it comes to handbags - I have my black clutch bags that I like to carry on special nights out, and bigger bags for more practical occasions. One such bag is the Mildred. The Mildred is a shoulder bag with awesome style. I have used it non-stop everyday for over a year. The leather strap needs replaced but the stealthy black heavy duty fabric looks brand new. The large main compartment is roomy enough for your planner and check book along with the bills and your refile cup. The bag has three sectioned compartments and the two small zippered compartments. It you are wondering what to put in them just refer to the little labels. You will never wonder where the phone is or those feminine needs are. This purse is by far the best bag ever created. Ogio might be loved for their rugged durable bags but luckily for me the showed some love for the ladies as well.

The Simplicity of my Favorite Black Pashmina Scarf

posted on 23 June 2011

The first time I ever purchased a pashmina scarf was during my shopping visit to New York in 2005. I fell in love with the flow and texture of the fabric. I ended up buying a cream colored pashmina, blue, and black pashmina. My favorite one was the black one. It seemed like no matter what I was wearing I could always get away with wearing my black pashmina. It went well with everything including outfits with patterns. I made it apart of my everyday attire for several weeks. Even now I can pull it out, fix it around my shoulders and neck, and add a decorative pin and go. It goes well with my favorite pair of jeans. I can wear it with a cocktail dress or even a pants suit. It works well as a cover up on rainy days too. It's versatile and stylish. Every woman should have one as part of her everyday wardrobe.

I Love my Favorite Everyday Handbag

posted on 21 June 2011

Forget those dainty gold evening bags or clutch bags that are hardly the size of a purse, a woman needs a bag that's truly resourceful. In my opinion, Kathy Zeeland has some of the most beautiful, inexpensive, and stylish handbags for the everyday woman. My favorite hand that I own from this designer is metallic rust with rhinestones and zippers in the front of the handbag. I have worn this handbag to work, to church, and just about anywhere. It is my favorite take along for all of my personal things. I love it because it can be worn on the shoulder with a strap or the strap can be removed to be carried by hand. This handbag is designed with an organizer on the interior so that there is a place for a wallet, keys, cell phone, and cosmetics. I have had many other designer purses, but I have found that this purse suits my everyday craving for subtile style. Whether red, metallic silver, multi-pattern, or basic black I believe any woman would be willing to carry her handbags. They are also affordable as they are stylish. I have found that buying the handbags a couple of seasons behind can help you save money while keeping up with the current fashion trends.

My Favorite Fashion Items are Cardigans

posted on 17 June 2011

I've always found fashion difficult. For example, I have rather large feet, so I need to find special shops that sell shoes for large feet. Not only that, but I have rather quirky sense of fashion which often conflicts with current trends. For example, by far the best fashion items currently in my closet are my cardigans. As a young professional, these sweaters are invaluable to making sure that I remain looking good and staying warm and cozy at work. I have a large tattoo on my shoulder, and as I work with the public for a government office, I cannot afford to have that show. However, I do not always want to wear clothes with longer sleeves dresses, especially, often do not provide good enough coverage for my back and shoulder blade area. My cardigans give me that coverage and allow me to wear whatever I want. I have them in a multitude of colors and fabrics, so I always have at least one to cover my outfit. The great thing about cardigans is that they are very easy to take off, so, once I leave work, if I no longer want to wear the cardigan, I just take it off.

Pearl Earrings

What better way is there to express the peace, humility, and harmony you want among friends and family than to wear a pair of pearl earrings? Ladies of all ages can look stunning in a pair of pearl earrings. They never become out-dated. They are a compliment to any jewelry box. They have a way of making women look younger and more sophisticated. Earrings have been around for hundreds of years. Pearl earrings seem to still be the most popular of all earrings worn. Why shouldn't they be? Pearls are beautiful whether in a setting all by themselves, or set in among stones. If you are going to work or on a dinner date, pearl earrings can match the day or evening. They come in all shapes and sizes with a variety of choices. Wear them with jeans or a cocktail dress. Pearl earrings will carry you through many fads and fashions.

Jewellery and Fashion Gift Ideas: What I Like to Wear

posted on 10 June 2011

The most important thing to me when it comes to fashion and jewellery is comfort. And when I think of jewellery gift ideas for my friends, I think the same too. I like wearing things that flow and don't cling to me. I am into the boho laid-back style so I wear a lot of dresses. They are simple and make you look fashionable when you add a bag or a belt to the outfit. I like pretty spring colors. I wear a lot of jewelry as well. It completes the outfit, and just by wearing certain pieces you can change an outfit completely. I wear necklaces mainly, but I also like wearing bracelets. My jewelry style preference is also boho. I like wearing sandals and wedges when I can. I wear a lot of nautical prints as well. Additionally, I like purses that are either purple, beige, or black. Most of my purses are hobos because I like having room to put whatever I want to, in my bag. I treat my bag like a backpack.

Pearl Necklaces Pure Beauty

posted on 28 May 2011

The oldest known necklace, is none other than a pearls necklace, that was determined to be over 3,000 years old. With this finding, it went on record to make the pearl the oldest known gem to date. Women have loved the purity and feminine charm pearls bring in jewelry. The pearls necklace has been the most popular jewelry accent for a bride for hundreds of years. Which would answer why pearls necklace is also the favorite family heirloom to be passed down from generation to generation of women. The oldest pearls necklace was thought to have been strung with silk, it was actually strung with brass string with gold holding the small strands together. A beautiful gift from nature, that when worn gives sophistication and elegance to whatever your wearing, there is a silent beauty to a pearls necklace. Perhaps that's why they call the pearl the symbol of love, and the Queen of Gems.

Safety Boots a Must When Trimming My Trees

posted on 17 May 2011

I have some fairly hefty trees in my large garden. Every autumn I have to trim some of the branches back to pre-empt any of them coming down in high winds. It's amazing how heavy a fairly thin looking branch can be - looks are very deceiving! So I always ensure I have a sturdy pair of safety boots on when lugging these branches from the ground to my skip, as well as ensuring I wear a pair of thick gloves too. I don't even do the branch cutting - I leave that to a tree surgeon, but I always feel I should be part of the process (I love my garden) so I'm always there to clean up the debris below. So take my advice - don't mess with trees unless you're qualified to! But beware if you have a large tree - it may need trimming in order to avoid damage from high winds.

Summer Wedding at a Beautiful Golf Course|

posted on 15 April 2011

The most recent wedding I attended was at a golf course in western Michigan. It was for a couple who my boyfriend and I were friends with. My boyfriend was actually the best man. He had grown up with the couple throughout school. Earlier in the day we took pictures with the bridal party and groomsmen at a riverside park. The ceremony was supposed to take place out on the lawn of the golf course but it began to rain. Everyone ended up standing around while the bride walked down the make shift aisle, wearing a lovely bridal tiara. Inside was the reception, there was a buffet of food, and music and dancing. Overall the wedding was very pleasant. Most people knew each other and it was very casual. We had a lot of fun. If it was my wedding, I personally would have done many things differently, however I know that the bride thoroughly enjoyed her day and looking back at her pictures that were taken, she looks very happy. They are still married to this day, three years later so they must be doing something right.

Glass charm necklaces are an absolute MUST!

posted on 13 April 2011

My absolute favorite pieces of accessory are glass charm necklaces. I'm a lover of necklaces and have all kinds - from mollie fashion necklaces to diamond encrusted ones. However, I don't always go by price - it just depends on the occasion. Glass charm necklaces are usually very cheap and can be found in many different stores. These necklaces come in a wide variety of colors and shapes that can be matched to anything and everything from jeans to a nice dress. They look as if they were made especially for you and each charm looks different than others in the same color. Since these necklaces are so cheap (I have usually found them for around $1 (USD) each necklace), you can buy one for every different outfit you have and still never have to wear the same necklace in the same month! Usually, the charm is never actually tied or made into the necklace. If you do not like the ribbon or cord that the charm is on, you can switch them to something you prefer or you can just change them out to have a whole new necklace!
