Goin' Fishin' - My Favorite Fish Were Always the Tiniest Ones!

Every country boy and girl has at least one memory of fishing, or goin’ fishin’ as we say here in the Ozarks. When I was growing up my mom and I made many fishing trips to the pond behind our house. We would grab out tackle boxes full of carp fishing tackle and fishing poles and back the pickup truck right up to the edge of the water. I always held my breath afraid the truck would roll right into the water but it never did. Sometimes we would go to the convenience store down the road first and get a bucket of minnows. Buying minnows was by far my favorite part of fishing. I loved watching all those little fish swim around in the big metal open tank just outside the store. I was so impressed by minnows that I even asked to keep two of them in a bowl like goldfish and surprisingly they lived for almost three years!
