Here is a small secret which can be done at home and has come down over generations, this would surely help you keep the clogged sink issue at bay.
1. Make sure you pour nothing heavy into the sink, no sediments, left over food particles or even grease. All of this leads to a clogged sink scenario, since over time it can accumulate and be a blockage or an obstacle for smooth flow.
2. A clogged sink should be treated with a mix of vinegar, baking soda and hot water. Once you mix the three well, flush it down the clogged sink and wait for a while before pouring cold water down the sink.
3. Finally, if the clogged sink has happened due to overgrown tree roots or heavy metal objects. Treat this as a learning sign, on keeping your flora and fauna away from the drain pipes and NOT being careless while emptying the dirty utensils into the sink for a wash. |

There are many possible reasons why electrical contractors backgrounds should be well checked before you allow them to carry out the electrical task at your home or at your working place.
Check their BBB to know if the electrical contractors in question have any unresolved disputes with customers prior to you. This would tell you loads about the authenticity of the company and whether the electrical contractors are actually serious about their business or not.
professional electrical contractors should have a goodwill and a long standing in the business. Someone who is a newbie shouldn’t be entertained, unless they are licensed and qualified or have good testimonials by previous customers for the same.
Never hire electrical contractors who promise a cheap quote, especially if they give you one which is too good to be true, they could be scamsters and they are best left out in the sun and not in your homes. |

My husband and I have been toying with exterior paint ideas for days now because we want to start the repainting of our house as soon as possible. We are being careful because we want to make sure that what we are picking is the best one because the color of the paint can make or break the appearance of our home. If we will choose poorly then our house will look lifeless and flat, if not totally hideous altogether and if we will choose something that is too bold or shocking, then it might clash with the architectural design or even start conflict with our neighbors. These are just some of our worries, that is why we are painstakingly taking our time to decide which color scheme to go. On the other hand, if we will be able to find the perfect color then it will be able to further add to beauty of our house, it can highlight its key features and even hide some of its imperfections and design flaws which will not only improve the aesthetic value of our house but even its market value. |

Owning your very own home gives you a great experience, but at the same time takes a lot of responsibilities. It is not like when you are just a renter that you can ask the landlord about the break downs and he will send someone to fix things for you, you must be responsible about the repairs by yourself. While most young couples and homeowners try to do the repairs on their own, there are many repairs that you alone cannot do. That is why there is a need of a plumber.
Plumbing may be an easy task, but without the proper knowledge and the right tools for the job, it may take a longer time to look and fix the problem. But there is another problem, plumbers are known to be expensive. So you would want to find and fix the problem on your own. So here are some tips so that you can save money on plumbers. You should compare plumber first, so you can compare their mileage, hourly rates and service call rate. Another thing, call the plumber with the best reputation for cost and customer satisfaction so that you would satisfy with their work.
There are so many important steps on preventing yourself on calling a plumber. Live your life in ways that you can avoid calling a plumber. Most plumbers are called due to back up drain problems. So be careful what you throw down your pipes. Grease is the biggest reason of drainage problems. Though most people would say that pouring hot water on the clogged area will do, there is a better way. First try pouring hot vinegar and let it sit for twenty minutes and then pour the hot water. Most homeowners use this method to clean their pipe daily. |

Home wiring is the very important installation in our homes. No one would want to own a house without electricity. Almost everything that helps eased up household chores in our daily living are powered by electricity and this electricity cannot possibly be in use without an electrical wiring.
The standard rate of a residential electrical wiring is rate 12 and rate 14. The bigger number, the smaller the load capacity it can carry. Most electrical wiring life span is 20 years and above that electrical wiring is already at its danger zone. Every 10 years, every household has also added appliances into the home thus adding electrical load to the standard the home wiring.
Overload means that the wiring is carrying more than the load it can carry. This happens every time we add every single appliance, device and gadget that is powered by electricity. Home wiring is more vulnerable to electrical overload because of its constant and day to day use of electrical system.
To ensure safety, it is advisable to seek for licensed electrical inspector advice and services. These electricians know exactly what to do with this kind of electrical issues. |

If I could afford it I'd make several changes to my house. I'd do the simple things first, like buy some garden side tables for my garden. Next up, I'd have a new stair case built and the kitchen wall removed to make a kitchen/diner. It would mean a lot of mess but it would be worth it. At the moment, the staircase is old fashioned wood with the sides painted a dark green color. The treds of the stairs are covered in green carpet tiles which look old and worn. It looks outdated and doesn’t fit with the rest of the house. I’d like the new one to be smooth fine wood, with stairs that are enclosed and carpeted properly. I’d then knock the kitchen wall down so that I could add a breakfast bar to make a kitchen diner. At the moment it is a bit dark and small, but doing this would open it up and make it more sociable when I’m cooking, rather than being stuck in a small room. |

This year I have seen some wonderful shabby chic antique and vintage galvanised containers, planted up with herbs and flowers.
I have some delightful bright purple tulips, which I believe are the variety 'Purple Prince', which look beautiful against the shabby chic grey of an ancient galvanised tub. Also the mauve wisteria 'Macrobotrys' is in full bloom at the moment. This magnificent climber makes stunning cut flowers, and again, the purple flowers look charming in a vintage French galvanised jug.
The old French galvanised jugs, watering cans and tubs also look extremely pretty when planted up with spring bulbs, Again, the pink and mauves of the Hyacynths look particularly attractive when planted up in galvanised or granite tubs.
I've just bought some herb seeds (basil, coriander and flat leaf parsley), and now plan to sow these in a lovely set of vintage tubs that I've just bought. These are going to look great throughout the summer, and hopefully very tasty too! |

Have you been in one of the new supermarkets that have come up in the recent past? One wonders how we have been operating before where one would buy one thing here then go on to another shop and buy another and the process goes on until you get everything that you need. It is not the case anymore , shopping has been made easier since one can get almost everything in one roof. There is all the things one can think of from house to office furniture, groceries, meat section, groceries and all household items. This is a venture any one would not compromise the services and goods that the customers get so one of the things is to ensure that the building is well lit, all electrical devices or appliances are in good condition and that in case a customer buys any thing like a refrigerator and it becomes faulty then there will be some one to do the repairs. the best thing is to have a commercial electrician. This will be the person who will carry out all this things. They should be a number of them so that if one is unavailable at a certain timer then there is some one else to do work. |

One of the guiding principles when thinking of bathroom storage ideas is to use the available space wisely. Most bathrooms are usually small and leave just enough space to make room for one or two bathroom cabinets or set of shelves. You must have room for the most essential bathroom items such as soaps, shampoos and towels. You can maximize space by using the bathroom walls, back of door and over the toilet. You can install a medium sized cabinet or holders for your towels, or a medicine cabinet on the wall. The back of your bathroom door can serve you well by installing several towel hooks or small bins where you can place shampoo bottles, soaps or other small items.
Over the toilet storage ideas include wire shelves or rack, or even a small cabinet. One of the least used spaces in a bathroom is the corner of the shower. You can add more storage space for your bathroom essential items by installing corner shower caddies. A collapsible hamper can help you get rid of clothes being thrown just about anywhere in the bathroom. |

For some people, their garage is more than just a place where the park their cars when it’s not in use. And for these people, one of their most pressing problems is the clutter found in that one place where only their car should be. They have to get the right garage storage solution to keep things in their proper place. If you find that your garage is full of makeshift storage boxes and cabinets, it’s now time to find the right ones where you can store those toys, sports equipment, garden tools, and other things that you just don’t have the heart or don’t want to throw out.
Your garage floor is not the right place to keep lawn mowers or your canoe you can get overhead garage storage where they can be kept safe and secure for the winter. There are garden tool storage systems where your shovels, rakes, and picks will be better kept and protected from the elements that can destroy them. You can also get door racks or shelves where you can keep small items that are easy to lose and hard to find when you need them. |

My kitchen is a galley kitchen and very short on space. Kitchens - I realise - are best when you have space to move. Luckily I live by myself, as there is only room for one person to cook at a time. Counter and cabinet space are at a premium, so I need to keep things organized, so they will fit in my small kitchen and so I can find them. I have been forced to store some kitchen appliances in a closet because I don't have room for them. I have organized my kitchen so that the appliances and utensils I use more frequently, are handy. Storing food is another matter, since I have very little space. I buy a weeks groceries at a time, using a list and menu. That way, I have room to store all my food. I try to prepare healthy meals in which I can freeze a portion, to eat later in the week. I prepare alot of casseroles and pasta dishes, with healthy ingredients, that can be frozen for later use. I also keep basic ingredients to prepare dishes on days when I feel like preparing something different. For example, I always keep eggs, frozen broccoli, mushrooms, and ham to make my favorite quiche. I also keep basic baking ingredients on hand, in case I get the urge to bake a dessert. This would include, flour, cocoa, oil, eggs, and vanilla. I rarely use my oven during the summer months, because it causes my apartment to get very warm, so I reserve most of my baking during the colder months. Because my kitchen is so small, my crockpot has become my favorite way to cook. I can prepare it, put it on a low heating setting and leave for the day. When I return home, I have a meal ready to eat. Despite the limitations of having a small kitchen, the postive aspects are that it is easy to keep clean, keeps me organized, and prevents me from buying alot of kitchen gadgets I don't need. |

My husband and I live in a very old house in the deep south and I want to do some upgrading that will make the house nicer, yet still old fashioned. We have done some major remodeling throughout the years, but it is now time to do more. My husband works as a roofer for a felt roofing company so he's a dab hand at DIY.
The house needs a new roof and siding badly. I would like to get vinyl siding put on this summer - I want to stick to the original color of the house which is white. I would also like a green metal roof and green shutters all around. The next thing we need to tackle is complelety revamping the master bedroom, bath, and closet. The bedroom needs to have the carpeting taken up and I would like to have pine floors that will match the rest of the house that we partially remodeled in 2006.
I want to completely gut the bathroom, closet and another small bedroom that is attached to the bathroom. The point of this is to make a much larger bathroom and closet. The small bedroom is no longer needed since our children have moved to college and I really need the bathroom to be larger. I want to install a large old clawfoot tub and other old fashioned and antique decor in keeping with the rest of the decorating in the house. My next project would be to open up the space in my bedroom where there are windows and build a large deck with french doors leading out to the deck. Hopefully this project will take place in the near future as funds become available from the small business that my husband started this year. |

Most of the modern homes being built today include the kitchen as part of the entertainment area. That is why most kitchen designs nowadays are very impressive. The layouts are not only made to be very functional serving not only as a place to prepare and cook your meals but also an area for eating them. It is anticipated that some of your guests or even house members will be crossing over into the kitchen from time to time. That is why its design should not only impress but serve as an extension for entertainment purposes.
One of the ways you can make your kitchen look appealing is to make the floors aesthetically beautiful as well as safe. Ceramic and marble flooring look really elegant and attractive but they do get really slippery when wet. To get the same natural stone look you can opt for tiles or stone flooring that have rough surfaces. For more kitchen flooring ideas you can search the internet for a variety of flooring materials you can choose as an alternative for your floor.

I have obtained our ancestral house as my parental property. My family members suggested to built a new modern house instead of that old narrow one. My only DIY experience extends to setting up some instant awnings, so you could say I'm green behind the ears!
My budget for a new building is not so high. Another reason I am very much fond of my old building. I am not ready to demolish it for built a new one. So I decided to renovate it by making some modern changes. I went to my friend who is an architect and discussed with him about my decision and as per his suggestions we prepared a plan and estimate for making necessary changes in my old house. There were 10 rooms in the old house with a large hall. But the rooms were very narrow. No attached bathrooms or toilets in it. The kitchen was broad but no modern facilities. The wooden Staircase to the upper terrace became faded. The front elevation of the old one is not at all attractive. As per the advise of the architect I planned the the following.
1. Widening the sit out portion with new beautiful designed Pillars, and I hope it will be given an attractive appearance to the front view.
2. In the inner part, removal of wall between two small rooms and must to built new toilets with modern facilities in between two rooms.
3. In the kitchen, fixing the comfortable wooden cabinets, Steel Zink and Water Tap and black granite Table top instead of old cement.
4. The railings of Staircase changed with new silver color paints.
5. The flooring is paved with white Vitrified Tiles instead of old mosaic and now it will be more beautiful.
6. There was no Car Porch in the old house. Will Build a new Car Porch in the side of the sit out.
7. There is a good well in the north-east side of the house. Planned to Change the shape of its over wall and thus it will become attractive.
8. The 1/3rd of the wide courtyard in front of the house will be changed into a fine lawn with garden and other part will be modified by paving the red floor tiles.
9. The compound wall and gate will be repaired.
10.Painting all inner and exterior portion with attractive color matched with the color of floor tiles
11.Repairing of electrical and plumbing works and fixing modern lighting arrangements
12.Good Interior decorations will be arranged.
As per the opinion of my friend the total cost of these works will be within the limit of my budget. So I am decided to do these works immediately. After finishing these changes and thus I will give a new face and new look to my old beloved house. |
