Memories of a Hot Summer Day In The South

Nothing says a hot summer day like going to a music festival and enjoying a spot of camping at the same time in one of those funky festival tents with your friends. Or simply sitting on your grandmother's porch with tall, cool glass of fresh lemonade, a slice of watermelon and home made peach ice cream! Fanning yourself with a piece of paper folded like an accordion and shewing flies with every other fan motion. Relaxing and having conversations about nothing in particular, not caring that the temperature soars as the ice cream cools you, on yet, another typical Southern summer day. Summer, the freedom to run barefoot, dive into a lake and do nothing. Picking blackberries is an art and if you can manage to get home with enough left to make a cobbler it is a accomplished day. Blackberry stains on your face and hands from picking and eating half the bag, stickers in your hands and legs, those were the days ! Hot summer days are never quite like those of childhood memories. At the end of the day you place your head on a feather pillow and listen to the sounds of the crickets' never ending song and wait for the sun to rise again.
