To Buy or Not to Buy Gifts

Ah, yes, the holidays are here again and the gullible lemmings are out and about shopping up a storm for last-minute gifts but not really knowing why other than it being a tradition. I've stopped buying gifts for the most part - apart from buying my employees some promotional usb drives as I thought they were actually useful and helped advertise my company.
When it comes to the usual gift-giving - well, I don't have any kids either, otherwise I would most likely get them something. However, I would not want to brainwash them with such silly capitalistic and materialistic traditions. Instead, I would instil family values and focus on being together with friends and family instead of falling into the consumer trap of corporate greed. I was appalled at the 2011 Black Friday mob mentality, people pepper spraying each other, fighting, even shooting each other over freakin' crap. And stores opening on Thanksgiving just completely repulsed me. Way to go, corporations, you have ruined yet another holiday! Stop asking for gifts so people stop wasting time and money on getting you crap you don't want or need. Live within your means! Debt is slavery!
